Best Talent FC wins Green Lock Summer Tournament

Posted : 23 July 2024

Best Talent Football Club of Mowe has emerged as the champions of the maiden edition of the GreenLock Summer Football Pre-Season Tournament, held at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State, after a 2-0 win over Green Lock FC.

Best Talent FC scored two goals in each half of the encounter, with highly-rated and prolific striker Azeez Tijani getting on the score sheet to secure the coveted trophy in an iconic ambience.

Popularly known as the Integrity Team, Best Talent remained unbeaten in the competition, having edged Star Builders 1-0 in the match opener, humbled TCCG FC 5-2, and settled for a 1-1 draw against Magic Stars FC, which propelled them to the top of Group A.

Green Lock FC, under the tutelage of Coach Bolarinwa, had the same points from Group B in an unbeaten run. Both teams clashed in the final of the prestigious pre-season tournament, with high expectations from the host team and undefeated Best Talent.

The head coach of the Mowe giants, Yinka Popoola Gullit, appreciated the chairman of the club, Adeyinka Adeyemo, for his massive support. He extended the same gratitude to the management and the players for their commitment, doggedness, and resilience in lifting the trophy against the host team.

"I'd like to give a big kudos to my players for doing a wonderful job today. They all played well and followed instructions. The tactical and technical advice they internalized reflected in the game. They resisted all incursions from the Green Lock team, and it paid off.

"My chairman is a man of his word, and the entire management team, medical staff, and media are all supportive in achieving this victory. I say thank you all.

"We hope to build on this, and I believe world beaters are already here. Only time will reveal them at its own pace.

"I must not forget to appreciate the organizers for providing everyone with a level playing field. If this kind of scenario is practiced everywhere, Nigerian football will continue to produce worthy champions," the highly elated Coach Gullit concluded.
