The Benue State Government has promised to upgrade the sports facilities in the state.
The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Rt. Hon. Terkimbir Ikyange, disclosed this during an inspection tour of the Aper Aku Stadium.
The stadium is the home ground of Nigeria Premier Football League side Lobi Stars. Ikyange said the upgrade would be of a modern standard acceptable to the country’s football authority.
He also re-echoed the state government’s commitment to repositioning sports in the state through policies and programmes that would attract youths to venture into and avoid social vices.
Lobi Stars played the 2022–23 NPFL season at the New Jos Stadium, which belongs to Plateau United.
