Bendel Insurance host table toppers Remo Stars in Match Day 7 star match

Fans of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will be looking ahead to the star match of the Match Day 7 fixtures between the host, Bendel Insurance, who are ready to entertain the table-toppers, Remo Stars, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Smarting from the 3-0 demolition of their Southwest rivals, Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Remo Stars will be hoping to continue their fine form to retain the top spot on the league table.

For Bendel Insurance, discipline will be the watchword, and the Benin Arsenals must avoid a repeat of the Match Day 5 0-0 stalemate against Akwa United.

In the standings, the Monday Odigie-tutored team has played four games, two less than other teams, winning two, drawing one, and losing one match, with seven points, and they occupy the 13th position on the table.

Last season, Remo Stars secured a ticket for continental football after defeating Bendel Insurance 1-0 in their final game of the Nigeria Premier League Super Six playoffs at Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Qudus Akanni slotted home after latching onto a loose ball to give Remo Stars the lead and eventually the only goal in the game.

The win for Remo Stars was Daniel Ogunmodede's side's first-ever win against Bendel Insurance at the time.

Remo Stars' captain, Junior Nduka, after the 3-0 win over Shooting Stars, said that the players' attention had shifted to the next fixture against Bendel Insurance, acknowledging the caliber of their upcoming adversaries.

Bendel Insurance, a team recently active on the continental stage, poses a formidable challenge.

Nduka recounted their past encounters, highlighting the back-and-forth nature of their previous matches. Remo Stars faced a defeat on the road, followed by a drawn match at home.
