Bendel Insurance FC gets boost as Jaret Tenebe redeems $3000 pledge ahead of Plateau Utd clash

Posted : 29 November 2024

As Bendel Insurance Football Club prepares to host Plateau United on Matchday 15 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, the Chairman of the Edo All Progressives Congress, Emperor Jaret Tenebe, has redeemed his $3000 pledge to the team.

Charles Ihimekpen, the secretary of the Benin Arsenals, confirmed the receipt of the money by Insurance FC on Friday afternoon.

He expressed the Benin Arsenals' appreciation to the donor, saying that the club sees the gift as a huge motivation for the players.

"The APC Chairman, Jaret Tenebe, has redeemed his pledge of $3000 to us, and we are grateful to him. He promised to give us the money as a gift if we won against Nasarawa, but we lost the match 2-1. However, Chief Tenebe told us not to feel bad and that he would still give us the money to motivate us ahead of the next match. Today, he has redeemed his promise."

Emperor Jaret Tenebe, who led the Edo State Government delegation to Lafia, Nasarawa State, to support Bendel Insurance in their Nigeria Premier Football League match against Nasarawa United on Wednesday, had promised to redeem the $3000 (three thousand dollars) he pledged to the Bendel Insurance FC players despite their 2-1 defeat at the hands of the hosts.

Emperor Tenebe made the promise in a conversation with sports journalists immediately after the Matchday 14 encounter at the Lafia City Stadium on Wednesday evening.

"Despite the fact that my team lost 2-1 to Nasarawa United, I will still give them the $3000. I announced the amount as a reward to motivate them. I watched the game from beginning to end, and I was impressed with the performance of our team. It was a good game, and I think our players need more encouragement. I made the promise, not the Edo State government, and I will still redeem my pledge because they played very well," he said.

Bendel Insurance FC is currently battling to escape the relegation zone and is in need of more support and motivation from the state government and other stakeholders in Edo State and beyond.

The Benin Arsenals will host Plateau United in Matchday 15 on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Benin at 4:00 p.m.
