Bendel Insurance FC Coach Odigie promises reinforcement for team

The Technical Director of Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin, Monday Odigie, has assured supporters and admirers of the Benin Arsenal that the team will soon return to their winning ways more quickly than expected.
Coach Odigie gave this assurance after Insurance FC and Akwa United FC played to a goalless draw on Match Day 5 of the Nigeria Premier Football League at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
Odigie stated that the club was still in the process of rebuilding after the departure of some key players last season and that nobody or the fans should lose sleep over the team's last two outings.
He revealed that reinforcements in the attack of the Benin Arsenals were imminent, saying that some of the key players on the injury list and the new strikers would soon be available to help the reigning FA Cup champions out of the current goal drought situation.
Coach Odigie commended his team's show of commitment and fighting spirit despite the not too impressive results.
"We are not happy that we didn't win to secure three points here. We made a mistake in Gombe, and it cost us.
``We know that we have problems in our attack, but we will continue to work on the areas until some other quality strikers can start playing.
``The league has just started, and I am sure we will improve as we continue to address the areas we have issues with," Coach Odigie said.
Insurance started Match Day 5 looking brilliant and poised to secure all three points, with Tamara Ezekiel, Paul Obata, and Evans Ogbonda coming close to scoring in the first half. However, the visitors, who have been struggling since the beginning of the season, did everything to share the spoils with the Benin Arsenals, who suffered a 1-0 loss to Gombe United in the Match Day 4 fixture.
The Benin Arsenal created numerous scoring chances that were not converted. Tamara Ezekiel was voted Man of the Match after his exceptional performance in the midfield, winning the high-performance award sponsored by Comrade Festus Alenkhe, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council.
Also speaking during the post-match interview, the head coach of Akwa United, Fatai Osho, said that Insurance FC remains one of the strongest teams in the country.
"We are happy to get a point in Benin. You can't take it away from Insurance. They are solid.
``We expected that a lot would be thrown at us in the game, having studied Insurance's style of play since the Super Six in Lagos when I was with Rivers United.
``We adopted a plan that worked. The only unfortunate thing is that our strikers didn't do enough to convert any chance," Osho said.
Insurance has seven points after four matches in the new season. They will be heading back to Gombe State to face Doma FC on Match Day 6 on Thursday.
It's a tight schedule for Insurance, who are expected to confront the high-riding Remo Stars on Match Day 7 on Sunday, upon their return from the 'Jewel of the Savannah,' Gombe State.
