The two opposing coaches of the rescheduled 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 20 fixture—Bendel Insurance’s head coach, Greg Ikhenoba, and Enyimba International FC’s coach, Stanley Eguma—disagreed on the outcome of the match.
While Ikhenoba expressed both satisfaction and concern following his team’s victory over Enyimba International, Eguma attributed his team’s loss to the red card issued to one of his players.
The Benin Arsenals secured a narrow 1-0 win over the nine-time champions, People’s Elephant, in the rescheduled match held on Wednesday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Ikhenoba highlighted his team's struggles with finishing. While pleased with the three points, which lifted Bendel Insurance to 15th place on the NPFL table, he pointed out that his players’ inability to convert chances remains a significant issue.
“I give glory to God and thank the boys for this win,” Ikhenoba said.
“We created a lot of opportunities, but our finishing still needs improvement,” he added.
On the other hand, Enyimba International's head coach, Eguma, attributed the loss primarily to the red card shown to one of his players.
Enyimba's Innocent Gabriel was sent off during the game for a reckless challenge on Bendel Insurance’s Kayode Oke.
Eguma acknowledged that both teams played well but noted that being a man down significantly impacted his team's performance.
"It was a good game, but being a man down made things difficult for us," he said.
