Bellingham, Rodrygo Shine as Real Madrid Cruise to Spanish Super Cup Final

Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo's second-half goals powered Real Madrid to a commanding 3-0 victory over Real Mallorca on Thursday, securing their place in the Spanish Super Cup final against rivals Barcelona. The match, held in Jeddah, saw Madrid dominate proceedings, setting the stage for a potential redemption after their heavy La Liga defeat in October’s El Clásico.

 

Real Madrid started brightly, applying early pressure on Mallorca, with Lucas Vázquez and Rodrygo Goes creating promising chances. However, the first half remained goalless as Mallorca’s defense held firm, effectively limiting opportunities for the Spanish and European champions. Kylian Mbappé’s appeal for a penalty after a challenge from Dani Rodríguez was waved away, while Mallorca showed resilience to prevent further threats.

 

Madrid suffered a setback early in the second half when Aurelien Tchouaméni had to be substituted following a head injury. However, the breakthrough came in the 63rd minute when Jude Bellingham capitalized on a chaotic sequence in the box. After Dominik Greif and the post denied earlier efforts from Rodrygo and Mbappé, Bellingham slotted in the rebound to maintain his incredible scoring streak of eight goals in ten matches across all competitions.

 

Mallorca’s hopes of a comeback were dashed late on when Martin Valjent inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while trying to block a pass. Rodrygo sealed the victory with a close-range strike in stoppage time, ensuring Madrid’s progression to the final and setting up a much-anticipated clash with Barcelona, the defending Super Cup champions.
