Following his transfer to Bayern Munich, Harry Kane emphasized that he aimed to avoid any "regrets" as he progresses in his career.
After 19 years at Tottenham, the 30-year-old England captain departed the club on Saturday to join the German champions for an initial fee of 100 million euros (£86 million).
Later on the same day, Kane made his debut for Bayern in the German Super Cup match against RB Leipzig, which ended in a 3-0 defeat for his new team.
Kane expressed that his family fully supported his decision, and he believes he has made the right choice. He stated, "I wanted to make sure that I don't reach the end of my career with any regrets about not experiencing different leagues and cultures."
Having spent his entire career in England and the Premier League, Kane acknowledged that transitioning to a new league might require some adaptation. Reflecting on the competition in the Bundesliga, he said, "Yesterday's match with Leipzig demonstrated that there are outstanding teams in this league, and it will be a significant challenge."
Despite the widespread expectation that Bayern dominates the league each year, Kane noted that the competition is growing stronger, making the title race more competitive. He stated, "While Bayern is often expected to win the league, I believe other teams are progressing, making the competition tougher."
Kane's main focus now is on integrating himself into his new environment and understanding the dynamics of the different teams and strategies. He said, "I'm looking to settle in, become as comfortable as possible, and grasp the nuances of how I need to adapt to this league."
As the all-time top scorer for Spurs with 280 goals in 435 matches, Kane mentioned that he plans to return to Tottenham to bid a proper farewell to the club. He explained, "I wasn't able to do it thoroughly. I sent a message to the players announcing my departure, but I intend to make a proper farewell when the opportunity arises."
Kane's journey with Tottenham began when he joined the club's academy in 2004. He signed his first professional contract in 2010 and made his senior debut in 2011. On his decision to leave, he concluded, "It was always going to be a challenging decision. Ultimately, I'm a professional who consistently pushes my limits, and I believe the timing was right."
