Bayern Munich has prolonged the contract of Germany midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic until 2029, following his unfortunate absence from Euro 2024 due to illness, as announced by the club on Sunday. Pavlovic, initially part of Germany's Euro 2024 squad, was forced to withdraw due to tonsillitis before their recent match against Scotland, with Emre Can taking his place in the team.
Despite missing out on the Euros, the 20-year-old midfielder has made significant strides in his career, debuting for Bayern's first team this year and featuring in 19 league matches, where he scored twice, earning him a call-up to the German national team. Pavlovic, who hails from Munich and joined Bayern's junior system at the age of seven, expressed his delight at the contract extension despite the setback of missing the European Championship.
Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl commended Pavlovic's dedication and progress, citing him as an exemplary figure who has worked hard to reach the top level. While Pavlovic's Euro dream was interrupted by illness, his contract extension with Bayern signifies the club's confidence in his abilities and his potential contribution to their future success.
