Bayern Munich chief reveals club’s stance on Osimhen transfer
Posted : 20 April 2023
Hasan Salihamidzic, the director of sports at Bayern Munich, is cryptic on the probable acquisition of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
Last summer, the Bavarians allowed Robert Lewandowski to leave the team, but they were unable to find a solid replacement for the Polish hitman.
However, the results have not been encouraging. They have alternated between deploying Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as the leading striker and using a false nine.
On Wednesday, Bayern Munich was eliminated from the Champions League, and it was clear that a top poacher was missing.
If their results do not improve, they could lose their hold on the Bundesliga crown this year.
In the summer, the team would be on the lookout for a dependable goal scorer, and Osimhen's name has been mentioned.
Following Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Manchester City, Bayern Munich's sports director acknowledged that the team is considering its options. But the amount of money involved will be crucial.
When asked about the possibility of signing Osimhen, Salihamidzic said “I will not discuss names now. However, we will see what the coach has in mind, who is involved, what are the financial implications, then we can see the possibilities”.
