Bayelsa Queens have emerged as the 2023 champions of Nigeria’s Federation Cup in the women’s category after successful defense of the Cup won in 2022.
Bayelsa United beat nine-times champions, Rivers Angels via penalty shootouts.
Africa Sport Network (ASN) reports that the match played at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba had both team unrepairable as they played barren draw in the entire duration of the match.
Bayelsa Queens are now a record fifth-time holder of the FA Cup.
A win for Rivers Angels would have been a record ninth Cup title for the ‘Jewel of Rivers’ but they could not beat their neighbours, Restoration Girls, a team they had failed to beat at the fourth attempt this season.
