2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 16: Battle of brothers as Kano Pillars welcome former landlord, Katsina United

The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 16 between two rivals, Kano Pillars and Katsina United, is a match that football lovers eagerly anticipate, given its reputation as a clash between northern warriors.


Historically, the old Kano empire gave birth to the present Katsina state, and since then, the football rivalry between the two states has been intense, often attracting one of the largest crowds to the stadium.

For this Northern derby, the recently opened Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano will be the center of attention as Katsina United comes to challenge them.


It is worth noting that the Mohammad Dikko Stadium, the home of Katsina United, has hosted the Sai Masu Gida team when their traditional ground was under renovation.


Now that Kano Pillars are enjoying the atmosphere created by their home fans, the situation has changed, and hostilities will be renewed.


For Kano Pillars, they will be without their influential talisman, Rabiu Ali, who is away on national duty. However, the team is fortunate to have captain Ahmed Musa, who missed the trip to the CHAN AFCON qualifiers due to strict regulations.


The Changi Boys will need to play their best to repeat what they have done before by defeating Sai Masu Gida at home.


For Kano Pillars, things have not been smooth, as they have dropped points at home without much pressure.
