Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze had an impactful 45-minute performance for Villarreal in their dominant 3-0 victory over Altach during their pre-season campaign.
Chukwueze, who previously scored for Villarreal in a 6-1 loss to St. Gallen, displayed his lively presence on the pitch and had a goal disallowed for offside in the 15th minute.
However, Villarreal continued their momentum as Gerard Moreno, Alfonso Pedraza, and Ramon Terrats found the net. Chukwueze was substituted at halftime, and Villarreal is set to face Hannover on July 22nd.
On the other hand, in the Netherlands, Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey featured for Ajax in their 3-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk during their second pre-season game.
Bassey, who came on as a substitute in the second half, had an unfortunate moment with a misplaced pass, allowing Shakhtar Donetsk to get a one-on-one opportunity with Ajax's goalkeeper, fortunately saved.
As Ajax looks forward to facing Anderlecht next, Bassey will aim to prove his worth after this incident, especially as Steijn, the coach, is determined to win this season.
In another pre-season match, Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun faced challenges as Rangers suffered a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle.
Balogun played the entire second half and conceded a goal, while Dessers was not included in the matchday squad.
