Barcelona receives €1.5 billion to start the "avant-garde" Camp Nou redevelopment

Barcelona said on Monday that it has received over €1.5 billion in funding to move on with the redevelopment of Spotify Camp Nou.
Barca had originally set a deadline of March 31 for finalizing the project's finance, but delays in the last phases of the discussions were caused by an increase in global interest rates.
Final funding for the project, which would completely restore the area around the team's iconic 99,000-seat stadium, came from 20 investors.
Following recent allegations that they might need to make concessions to close the funding, the LaLiga executives have emphasized that "club assets were not used as a guarantee and a mortgage was not taken out on the stadium."
"[The money is re-payable] in different instalments to be paid progressively at five, seven, nine, 20 and 24 years, with a flexible structure, including a grace period," a statement said Monday.
"The club will start to repay the operation once work has been completed on the stadium, using income generated by Camp Nou."
