Barcelona lost to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga

Leaders Barcelona lost in La Liga for just the third time this year as Rayo Vallecano earned a remarkable victory.

The mid-table hosts took a dominating lead thanks to goals from Alvaro Garcia and Fran Garcia before Robert Lewandowski added a late consolation.

With eight games remaining, Barca leads closest opponent Real Madrid by 11 points and is still on track to win the La Liga championship for the first time since 2018–19.

On Saturday, they host fifth-placed Real Betis.
Garcia opened the scoring for Vallecano by beating Marc-Andre ter Stegen with a shot across his body.

Franck Kessie's attempt was blocked, and Lewandowski scored his 18th La Liga goal of the year to restore parity.

Barcelona had not lost in La Liga since February 26; yet, they had won just one of their previous four league contests.
