Barca's Legal Difficulties Hinder Their Laliga Chase
Posted : 06 April 2023
Prior to the forthcoming Clasico, Real Madrid had defeated Espanyol 3-1, putting them six points behind them. If they lost this weekend's match, their lead at the top might be reduced to just three points by the start of April.
A judge conducting the investigation is scheduled to determine whether to file charges against Barcelona in the Enriquez Negreira case in the coming days. Prosecutors had earlier accused Barcelona in writing of corruption, fraudulent management, and falsification of paperwork.
A few hours before the game, Real Madrid declared they would join any lawsuit as "damaged parties," along with LaLiga, the Spanish government, and the Spanish FA.
Naturally, Bilbao supporters took advantage of the situation during the game. But heeding Xavi's advice, the Barca players on the field remained unperturbed.
