Awoniyi affirms Nottingham Forest transfer as a wise decision

Taiwo Awoniyi strongly maintains that his transfer to Nottingham Forest was a mutually beneficial move for both himself and the club, despite facing initial challenges in adapting to the demands of the English Premier League after his switch from Union Berlin to the two-time European champions.

As Nottingham Forest's most expensive signing at the time, Awoniyi had high expectations placed upon him. 

However, like many others in the team, he faced difficulties in the early part of the season. Yet, he showcased his potential by scoring crucial goals against West Ham United and Liverpool.

It was during the latter stages of the season, following his recovery from injury, that Awoniyi truly flourished. 

He displayed remarkable form, recording memorable brace performances against Southampton and Chelsea. 

These achievements bolstered his confidence and were followed by additional goals against Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

Reflecting on his decision to join Nottingham Forest, Awoniyi addressed criticisms and doubts raised by others, stating that everyone has their own opinions. 

He emphasized that his successful season with Forest allowed him to prove his importance to the club, and had he remained with his former team, his impact may not have been as widely recognized.

Awoniyi advised individuals not to be swayed by external opinions but to believe in themselves and offer prayers of support regardless of the choices they make.

When questioned about the competition for striker positions within the Nigerian national team, Awoniyi acknowledged the abundance of talented players. 

He highlighted the achievements of Victor Osimhen in Napoli, the prowess of Kelechi Iheanacho, and the emergence of exciting talents like Terem Moffi. 

He acknowledged the high level of competition among Nigerian strikers and the positive impact it has on the national team.
