Auckland shooting leaves three dead, New Zealand Prime Minister assures tournament proceeds

Three people were confirmed dead after a shooting incident in downtown Auckland, near the Women's World Cup fan zone.
New Zealand police contained the situation to a single building under construction, and the male offender responsible for the shooting is also deceased.
The New Zealand Prime Minister reassured that the tournament would proceed as planned, and there is no wider national security threat.
Eden Park, the venue for the New Zealand vs. Norway match, increased security measures, and encouraged ticket holders to arrive early.
The shooter, armed with a pump-action shotgun, started firing at a construction site and moved through the building, firing at people. Police attempted to engage with the gunman, but further shots were fired, and he was later found deceased in the elevator shaft.
The incident occurred as soccer teams gathered in New Zealand for the Women's World Cup. FIFA expressed its condolences and reassured that they had received necessary reassurances from the authorities regarding safety and security.
New Zealand Football confirmed that the Football Ferns team and staff were safe, and preparations for the game at Eden Park would continue as planned.
Norway captain Maren Mjeldeb stated that the team felt safe despite the incident, and they would proceed with their preparations for the game. The United States team also confirmed that all players and staff were accounted for and safe, and they were proceeding with their daily schedule while expressing condolences for the loss of lives due to gun violence.
