Trailing by two goals late in the match, Atletico salvaged a dramatic result when Alexander Sorloth netted an equalizer deep into stoppage time.

With the tie now level heading into the return leg on April 2, Simeone was particularly proud of his players' courage and consistency, noting that they maintained a strong competitive mindset throughout the match.

 

However, Simeone admitted frustration over the defensive lapses that allowed Barcelona to score twice from set pieces. He stressed that such mistakes were avoidable and must be addressed before the second leg.
