Atalanta, fresh off their Europa League triumph, will aim to extend their impressive form when they host AC Milan in Serie A on Friday. Currently sitting second, Atalanta secured a 2-0 win over AS Roma on Monday, extending their winning streak to eight consecutive league victories.
Their stellar run includes a 3-0 victory over Napoli, putting them just one point behind the league leaders. A win against Milan would see them equal their club record of nine consecutive Serie A wins, set in 2020.
The upcoming match will be a significant test for Gian Piero Gasperini's side, as they are also set to face Real Madrid in the Champions League just days later. Atalanta has been in exceptional form, amassing 31 points from 14 matches, a tally they haven't reached since the introduction of the three-points-for-a-win system. However, Milan will provide a tough challenge, as they come into the match sitting seventh, having won only two of their last five Serie A games.
Meanwhile, Napoli appears to have recovered from recent setbacks, securing back-to-back 1-0 victories against Roma and Torino. These wins came after a 3-0 defeat to Atalanta and a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan earlier in November.
Napoli, now back on track, will look to solidify their position at the top when they face fifth-placed Lazio on Sunday, following their Coppa Italia clash in Rome. Lazio, who sit third in Serie A, have had a solid run but saw their five-game winning streak ended by a 3-1 loss to Parma.
Elsewhere, Juventus, the only unbeaten team in Serie A, will aim to maintain their record when they host Bologna on Saturday. Inter, sitting fourth, will also look for a comfortable win as they face Parma, who have recently shown improvement with two wins in their last three matches after earning promotion from Serie B.
