Tim Akinola, a product of Arsenal's youth system, has arrived in the Czech Republic to engage in contract negotiations with MFK Karviná, a First League club.
The Nigerian midfielder, who received an invitation to the 2022 Nigeria Olympic National Team, is currently a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Qatargas League team Al Bidda SC in September 2023, following his departure from Arsenal.
Before traveling to the Czech Republic for contract talks with MFK Karviná, Akinola underwent training with an undisclosed club in England.
Pending successful negotiations on personal terms and a satisfactory medical examination, the talented central midfielder is anticipated to sign a two-year contract with MFK Karviná.
In the January transfer window, Akinola was strongly linked with a move to the Portuguese club C.F. Estrela da Amadora, but the deal fell through at the last minute.
Despite interest from Saudi Arabian and Qatari clubs, Akinola prioritized a return to Europe.
If the proposed move to MFK Karviná materializes, Akinola is expected to adapt smoothly to the new environment, given that the club already has four Nigerian players on its roster, including Adeleke Akinyemi, David Moses, Emmanuel Ayaosi, and Lucky Ezeh.
Throughout his tenure at the Emirates Stadium, Akinola had loan spells with Dundee United and Chesterfield.
