Sources have revealed that Arsenal has reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign forward Kai Havertz in a deal worth up to £67.5 million.
The negotiations progressed swiftly, with Chelsea indicating a base fee of £62.5 million and an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons.
The personal terms are close to being finalized, and Havertz is expected to become Mikel Arteta's first signing of the summer.
Arsenal is also pursuing deals for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and Ajax defender Jurrien Timber. Chelsea is keen to avoid the risk of Havertz running down his contract, which expires in 2025.
New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is looking to revamp the forward line and is open to Havertz's departure.
Arsenal sees Havertz as a versatile player capable of operating as a No. 10 or No. 8 and fitting into any of the three attacking positions in their interchangeable forward line within a 4-3-3 system.
While Havertz had a standout moment with the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, he has struggled for consistency, scoring 32 goals in 139 appearances across all competitions.
