The Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Stars, who will be coached by D.C. United head coach Wayne Rooney during the midseason showcase in July, will face off against Premier League leaders Arsenal, the league announced on Tuesday.
Arsenal, who might travel to Audi Field in Washington, D.C. for the July 19 contest as the freshly crowned Premier League winners, will make their second appearance in the All-Star game.
After moving eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City with a 4-1 victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday, the north London team tightened its hold on the top of the league.
"It's great that we're playing against the MLS All-Stars in Washington D.C. in July," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said in a statement. "Our U.S. tour last summer was very good preparation for the season.
"The match against the MLS All-Stars will be a good test ahead of the 2023/24 season."
Rooney will play in his third All-Star contest. The former England attacker played against the MLS elite in 2011 as a member of Manchester United. He was a member of the MLS team that took on Atletico Madrid in 2019.
