Arsenal to debut 'no more red' kit in FA Cup fixture against Liverpool

Posted : 09 January 2024

Adidas and Arsenal have revealed plans for the men's team to debut the No More Red kit, devoid of the club's traditional red color, in a home fixture against Liverpool during the FA Cup third round. Launched in January 2022, the No More Red initiative supports Arsenal's efforts to combat knife crime and youth violence.

In addition to the men's team, Arsenal Women will also don the all-white kit for the first time in their FA Cup fourth-round match against Watford on January 14. The bespoke No More Red community t-shirt, designed by a young person from Arsenal in the Community, will be available for purchase, with proceeds donated to charity partners.

The No More Red kit, designed to raise awareness and engage the community in the fight against knife crime, will not be available for sale. However, a No More Red community t-shirt, priced at £30, will be released on January 29, with £30 from each sale distributed equally among No More Red Charity Partners.

The funds will support initiatives by organizations like The Arsenal Foundation, Abianda, Octopus Community Network, Box Up Crime, Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, Ben Kinsella Trust, Copenhagen Youth Project, and St Giles Trust.

Looking ahead to 2024, Adidas and Arsenal plan to enhance community engagement through various initiatives. These include the opening of a third refurbished community pitch, continuing mentor-led Social Action Projects, a volunteer incentive scheme, and the recognition of community champions with No More Red shirts. The No More Red community t-shirt, designed by Nellie-Rose from Arsenal in the Community, celebrates diversity and unity, aligning with Arsenal's commitment to providing safe spaces for young people.

Freddie Hudson, Head of Arsenal in the Community, emphasized the positive impact of No More Red over the past two years, focusing on building safe spaces, providing access to role models, and showcasing the positive work in the community. Chris Walsh, VP Brand Northern Europe at Adidas SA, highlighted the overwhelming support from supporters and the introduction of the No More Red community t-shirt as a tangible way for fans to express their support and contribute directly to the initiative.

The No More Red campaign addresses the pressing issue of knife crime and youth violence, with recent data indicating a 21% increase in knife-enabled crimes in London between June 2022 and June 2023, emphasizing the ongoing importance of such initiatives.
