"Talented Arsenal Striker Chido Obi Provisionally Represents Denmark, Keeping Options Open for Nigeria"

Highly-regarded Arsenal striker, Chido Obi, found himself provisionally tied to his birthplace, Denmark, on Wednesday, October 11.

Born in 2007, Obi holds the eligibility to represent both Nigeria through his father and Denmark, his birth and upbringing country.

In his first competitive game for a youth team, the 15-year-old prodigy, Obi, was featured in the starting lineup as Denmark secured a remarkable 4-1 victory against Lithuania during the 2014 European U17 Championship qualifier at the Tskaltubo Technical Center, Tsqaltubo.

Before this notable match, the promising young player had already represented Denmark's U16 and U17 teams in friendly matches and had participated in two games for England's U16 squad.

Despite his provisional commitment to Denmark, Chido Obi's possibilities at the international level remain open. However, he must undertake a formal process of applying for a change of association, a step that necessitates FIFA approval, to represent the Nigeria national teams in future competitions.

Seventeen minutes into a critical contest, Obi showcased his skills by scoring a goal, propelling Denmark to a 2-1 lead. This achievement elevated his goal count to an impressive six goals in seven appearances for the U17 national team.

This season, Obi has illustrated his potential for the future by exhibiting excellent performance, netting three goals in four matches for Arsenal in the U18 Premier League.

Furthermore, in the recent Super Eagles squad for the friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, nine players—Tyronne Ebuehi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Jordan Torunarigha, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru—had alternate choices but opted to proudly represent the three-time African champions, Nigeria.
