Portuguese Primeira Liga club Grupo Desportivo de Chaves has officially announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali, who was nurtured by Arsenal.
The details of the contract were not disclosed in the statement, but Nwakali has inked a three-year deal that will keep him at Chaves until the 2025-2026 season.
Following a successful medical examination, the transfer was confirmed on Thursday evening. Nwakali's move to Chaves marks the end of his one-year association with SD Ponferradina, which he joined in 2022 after being released by another Spanish club, SD Huesca.
With this move, Nwakali returns to Portuguese football, where he previously played for Porto B on loan from Arsenal during the 2018-2019 season, adding to his list of previous clubs like MVV Maastricht, VVV Venlo, and Alcorcón.
