Arsenal’s development squad manager, Mehmet Ali, praised Andre Harriman-Annous for his impressive performance in Arsenal's 2-2 draw against Derby County in a Premier League 2 match at Meadow Park on Monday night. Andre's goal was a standout moment in the game, showcasing his growing talent and potential.
Born in London, Andre holds the opportunity to represent England, Ghana, or Nigeria at the international level. His father’s Ghanaian roots give him eligibility for the Ghana national team, while his Nigerian heritage comes from his mother, Josephine Harriman, a prominent investment banker based in England.
Andre is widely regarded as one of Arsenal’s most promising young talents, particularly among those of Nigerian descent, only second to the history-making Ethan Nwaneri. The 17-year-old forward had an impressive final season as a schoolboy, scoring twice in seven appearances in the U18 Premier League.
This season, Andre has been promoted to play with older age groups, making an immediate impact with goals in his debut matches across various competitions. He has found the net in the UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy, Premier League 2, FA Youth Cup, and U18 Premier League Cup.
During the match against Derby County, Andre once again proved his abilities. In the 64th minute, he scored to put Arsenal ahead 2-1. However, with only a minute left in the game, another teenager of Nigerian descent, Justin Oguntolu, leveled the score for Derby County, ending the match in a draw.
After the game, Arsenal’s manager Mehmet Ali expressed his admiration for Andre’s work ethic and performance. He said, “Andre was excellent. He works incredibly hard for the team. There’s still a lot for him to learn, of course, but playing at this level at such a young age will do him the world of good.”
Andre’s older brother, Brandon Harriman-Annous, who also graduated from Arsenal’s Hale End Academy, has been making strides in his career. Recently, Brandon won Hull City’s Goal of the Month award for February 2025 after scoring a brilliant goal against Coventry City U21s.
