Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare made a significant impact for Genk in their UEFA Champions League qualification match against Servette at the Geneva Stadium.
Leading the charge for the Belgian side, Arokodare found the back of the net midway through the game, skillfully heading in a cross from Patrik Hrosovsky to put Genk in the lead.
Throughout the match, Arokodare showcased his active and influential presence on the field, contributing not just with his goal but also with his overall team play.
Unfortunately, Genk's lead was short-lived as Servette managed to equalize in the 73rd minute through Steve Rouiller.
Arokodare had an impressive 86 minutes of play before being taken off due to an injury. His performance undoubtedly played a crucial role in helping Genk secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw, giving them an advantage for the second leg of the qualification.
Meanwhile, in Lithuania, another Nigerian striker, Mathias Oyewusi, made his mark for Zalgiris in their thrilling 2-2 draw against Galatasaray.
After a goalless first half, Oyewusi broke the deadlock for the Lithuanian side, scoring the opening goal in the 48th minute. However, Galatasaray mounted a comeback, with goals from Abdulkerim Bardakci and Halil Dervisoglu.
Oyewusi was substituted in the 64th minute, and as the match headed towards its conclusion, Zalgiris managed to salvage a draw when Donatas Kazlauskas found the equalizer in stoppage time.
The intense encounter between Zalgiris and Galatasaray sets the stage for an exciting second leg, scheduled to be played next week, where both teams will battle it out for a place in the UEFA Champions League.
