Armed men injure El-Kanemi Warriors' players in transit to Maiduguri

The convoy of El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri was reportedly attacked in the early hours of Saturday while returning to their base in Maiduguri.


El-Kanemi Warriors FC faced a harrowing experience when their officials and players were ambushed by armed robbers on the Jos-Bauchi road. The team, returning to Maiduguri from a match in Lagos, was attacked around 2 a.m.

Several players sustained injuries, and personal belongings were stolen. The injured players were promptly treated at a nearby hospital, and the team has since continued their journey home.


This unfortunate incident has sparked urgent calls from fans and stakeholders for improved security measures and better travel arrangements for the team.


There is also an appeal to the Borno State Government to provide the club with a new vehicle or facilitate alternative safe travel options.
