Three players of Nigerian descent are expected to be part of Royal Antwerp's lineup for their upcoming UEFA Champions League Group H game against Barcelona, pending a final fitness check.
Coached by former Barcelona player Mark van Bommel, the Belgian team's 20-member travel squad flew from Liege Airport to Barcelona and includes Lagos-born forward George Ilenikhena, Zaria native Chidera Ejuke, and Kano-born midfielder Alhassan Yusuf.
Neither of these Nigerian players has debuted in the Champions League group stage yet.
Ejuke and Ilenikhena were unused substitutes in earlier playoff matches against AEK Athens, while Yusuf made a brief appearance.
Antwerp faces a Barcelona team in top form, having won their last four La Liga games and strengthened their roster with high-profile additions like João Cancelo and İlkay Gündoğan.
