Belgian club Royal Antwerp has made significant transfer decisions regarding their Nigerian players for the upcoming season.
Alhassan Yusuf, Chidera Ejuke, Victor Udoh, and George Ilenikhena were instrumental in Royal Antwerp’s domestic and European campaigns during the 2023-24 season.
As the 2024-25 season approaches, Antwerp has chosen to part ways with Ejuke while retaining Yusuf, Udoh, and Ilenikhena, as reported by Voetbal Primeur.
Ejuke had joined Antwerp on loan from CSKA Moscow last July. After a challenging start, he became a key player for Antwerp, finishing the season with five goals and six assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
With his loan spell ending and his contract with CSKA also expiring, Ejuke will need to find a new club this summer.
Yusuf, who played a crucial role in Antwerp's first Belgian league title since 1957, remains with the team. The Super Eagles midfielder, who joined Antwerp from IFK Göteborg in 2021, is under contract until 2025.
Udoh, only 19, began last season with Antwerp’s reserve team but quickly earned promotion to the first team after impressive performances. The former HB Abuja player scored 12 goals in 21 games since his arrival in January.
Ilenikhena has become one of Antwerp’s standout players, having had an exceptional debut season. Signed from Amiens for €6 million, he scored 14 goals, including a historic winner against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. With his contract running until June 2027, Antwerp is only open to selling the 17-year-old if a substantial offer is made.
