Man Utd v Galatasaray: Antony's potential return to Manchester United for Champions League clash
Posted : 02 October 2023
Antony may make his return to the Manchester United lineup for their upcoming Champions League match against Galatasaray on Tuesday. The Brazilian winger has been absent from the team since early September due to allegations of domestic abuse, which he has vehemently denied. It's important to note that he has not faced any arrests or charges in relation to these allegations in either Brazil or the UK. Antony resumed training on Sunday, and manager Erik ten Hag has stated that he is being considered for the Group A fixture.
In less favorable news for United, defender Lisandro Martinez is set to undergo surgery for a foot injury. The 25-year-old Argentine international had already missed the latter part of the previous season due to a metatarsal fracture sustained in April. Unfortunately, United expects him to be sidelined for another three months due to an exacerbation of the injury.
On a more positive note, there is hope for the return of left-back Sergio Reguilon, who missed the recent home defeat to Crystal Palace due to injury. His potential return could allow Sofyan Amrabat to shift back into his usual midfield role.
However, Manchester United is contending with a significant injury list that includes full-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia.
