Anticipation surges ahead of 2023 Lagos Street Soccer Championship

Over 1000 teams comprising men and women will compete in this year’s Lagos Street Soccer Championship which kicks off on Sunday, Oct. 15.

The chairman of the organising committee for the competition Mr Bolaji Yusuf said the opening ceremony of the 5-a-side football competition would take place at Obele Odan Playing Ground in Surulere, Lagos.

“The kick off has been rescheduled due to various renovation stages being completed at designated facilities, in compliance with safety requirements, and consultations with the project’s associates and stakeholders," said Mr Yusuf.

“It is on the basis of living up to the project principles and taking into account new realities that no stone is left unturned in our pursuit of a 360-degree reactivation for the fulfillment of our goals and the satisfaction of stakeholders that the new date was set.

“Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this postponement to your arrangements for the opening ceremony," he concluded.

Under 15 category has also been included in the Season 8 of this year’s edition.

The first games of the tournament will be hosted by Surulere Local Government.
