Southampton Football Club, recently relegated from the Premier League, has published their official list of retained and released players on their website following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.
Among the departures, young professional Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo, an Anglo-Nigerian fullback, will be leaving the club after seven years of dedicated service, as his contract expires on June 30, 2023.
Otseh-Taiwo's journey with Southampton began when he joined the club as a schoolboy in 2016, progressing through the ranks and eventually establishing himself in the B team.
During his time at the club, he made notable contributions, featuring in 25 matches for the U18 Premier League and participating in 37 games for the B team in the Premier League 2.
Despite his dedication and growth within the Southampton system, Otseh-Taiwo departs without making a professional debut.
In contrast, notable players like Joe Aribo, Paul Onuachu, Sam Edozie, and Princewill Ehibhatiomhan are likely to have been retained by Southampton, considering their absence from the released list, indicating their continued contracts with the club.
Aribo and Onuachu have three years remaining on their contracts, Edozie is committed to the club until June 30, 2027, and Ehibhatiomhan's contract extends until 2025.
