Ange Postecoglou Optimistic About Tottenham's Progress Amid Inconsistent Season

Ange Postecoglou expressed confidence on Wednesday that Tottenham Hotspur are progressing in all aspects of their game, despite experiencing a season of inconsistency in the Premier League. Heading into their match against Bournemouth on Thursday, Spurs are seventh in the table with six wins, five losses, and two draws from their first 13 matches. They are just three points behind the top four, having delivered a stunning 4-0 victory over champions Manchester City, while also suffering a surprising 2-1 home defeat to struggling Ipswich.

 

Postecoglou defended his attacking style last week, emphasizing that he prioritizes an attacking approach over pragmatism, even after conceding a late equalizer in a 2-2 draw against Roma. Reflecting on the season so far, he remains optimistic about the direction his team is heading. "We're progressing in all aspects of our game," he said, highlighting their improved consistency in defense compared to last year and their strong attacking performance, with a notable number of goals scored.

 

Despite the team's positive trajectory, Postecoglou acknowledged the challenges posed by significant player absences. However, he believes that the team is handling these setbacks well, as they did in a similar situation last season. "It's something we have to work through," he explained, adding that, despite these challenges, Tottenham is grinding through tough patches and continuing to progress.

 

Although pleased with his team's overall development, Postecoglou admitted that there were still areas to improve. He pointed to games like their 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and the loss to Ipswich, where the team fell short of their expectations. Despite these setbacks, the Spurs manager is confident that they will continue to refine their performance and make progress across all areas.
