Ampem Darkoa of Ghana continued their incredible run of play at the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers WAFU B to qualify for the final.
Darkoa outclassed Sam Nelly 6-1 in the other semifinal of the day as they made a bold statement in their quest for the continental ticket.
The Ghanaian champions finished Group B undefeated and were favourites coming into the contest, boasting of the top scorer and having scored the highest goals of qualifiers.
A Tracey Twum hat-trick powered Ampem Darkoa to the emphatic win as they were a handful for Sam Nelly who looked helpless and had no answer during the match.
Twum netted her brace inside 12 minutes, before sensational striker Mary Amponsah added a third, her eighth of the qualifiers as Darkoa took control of the game right from the blast of the whistle.
The Ghanaian champions extended their advantage before half time and took the game beyond Sam Nelly’s reach when Ophelia Amponsah got in the mix, scoring from a delightful cross.
Ampem Darkoa finished off strongly in the second half when Nancy Amoh converted on the blunt of the keeper before Twum completed her treble later on.
Although, Sam Nelly pulled one back, it served as a consolation as Darkoa had won the match with their fast-play and counter attack style of football.
They will go on to face Nigeria’s Delta Queens in the final for chance to represent the region at the continental showpiece later this year.
