Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has dismissed speculation linking Bruno Fernandes with a move to Real Madrid, insisting the club captain is staying put.
Reports had suggested that the Portuguese midfielder was being considered for a £90 million transfer to the Spanish giants, but Amorim made it clear on Monday that such a move is not in the cards.
Fernandes, who has been a key figure for United since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in 2020, remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2027.
Amorim emphasized Fernandes' importance to the team, particularly during challenging periods of the season. He highlighted the midfielder’s consistent performances and leadership, stressing that United’s ambitions of reclaiming the Premier League title rely on keeping their top players.
The 30-year-old has been instrumental in United’s attack, contributing both goals and assists in crucial moments.
Despite speculation, Amorim expressed confidence that Fernandes is content at the club and reaffirmed United’s control over his future. He pointed out the midfielder’s durability, playing an average of 55 matches per season, and his ability to deliver around 30 goal contributions each year.
With United focused on maintaining their competitive edge, Amorim made it clear that Fernandes will remain a vital part of their squad.
