Surprise Team of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will once again fancy their chances at impressive statistics in the ongoing season when they welcome Niger Tornadoes to the fortress, Pantami Stadium, Gombe.

Aside from the fact that high-flying Doma United will be playing at Pantami Stadium, a fortress where they have yet to drop a point, the Savannah Tigers have the most impressive away game points, with the latest one against another Premier League giant, Remo Stars, where they earned a point from the former league leaders.

On the road, the Akin Onigbinde-led team has gathered six points from away matches.

The Savannah Tigers' surprising result last weekend, with a goalless draw against Remo Stars in Ikenne, extended their unbeaten run to six matches. They hope to carry on to seven matches when the Ikon Allah Boys come knocking. With goalkeeper Osayi Kingdom between the sticks, the team is set for another distinctive performance to earn a valuable point.

Tornadoes secured a narrow 1-0 win over Akwa United in Kaduna last weekend and will fancy their chances of getting something against Doma United.

Doma United Technical Adviser, Akinade Onigbinde, is confident in his team ahead of their Match Day 11 clash against Niger Tornadoes.

Onigbinde stated that the team was working tirelessly to achieve a good result in the game.

“Since we returned from Ikenne, the boys have been working very hard. The technical crew is putting their heads together,” he said.

Niger Tornadoes midfielder Chidiebere Ernest is optimistic about his side’s ability to get a good result in the matchday 11 fixture against Doma United.

Ernest said the Ikon Allah Boys will consolidate on last week’s victory against Akwa United.

He stated that the team is highly motivated for the match.

“We knew the game against Akwa United was going to be difficult, but we had our plans mapped out, with the maximum point as the only target, and thank God, with collective effort and contribution from the technical crew, management, my colleagues, and everyone, we were able to pull it off—we are going to use the win as a propeller to climb the ladder,” he said.
