Alfie Haaland: Erling's father had his seat removed for celebrating
Posted : 10 May 2023
Alfie Haaland claims he was forced from his seat at the Bernabeu because Real Madrid supporters were "not happy" with his celebrations following Kevin de Bruyne's equaliser for Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.
Before being removed from his box, Erling Haaland's father is seen in a video posted on social media apparently mocking the home crowd.
Haaland tweeted: "OK. RM was not happy we were celebrating KDB goal.
"Other than that we had to move because RM fans not happy with 1-1."
In the 67th minute, De Bruyne scored to offset Vinicius Junior's first goal.
Haaland waved with both hands, grinned at the spectators, cupped his ears to the Real Madrid supporters, made gestures, and according to sources in Spain, threw food at the crowd.
The former Manchester City and Leeds player frequently attends City games, where his son has so far this season scored 51 goals.
Spanish powerhouse Madrid has won the Winners League trophy five times since 2014—a title City has yet to take home—and last year they eliminated the Premier League champions at the semi-final stage.
According to sources from October, Haaland's contract has a particular release clause that allows him to join Real Madrid in 2024.
On Wednesday, May 17, City will face Real Madrid at Etihad Stadium for the second leg.
