Argentina forward Alejandro Garnacho has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia due to discomfort in his left knee, as announced by the national team on Monday. The 20-year-old winger from Manchester United played the entire match in Sunday’s goalless draw against Aston Villa but will not be joining the Argentina squad for the qualifiers.
Argentina currently leads the qualifying standings with 18 points from eight matches and is set to face Venezuela, who sits sixth, on Thursday. Following that, they will host Bolivia, positioned eighth, next Tuesday.
Originally selected for the two fixtures, Garnacho has been replaced in the squad by Leicester City's Facundo Buonanotte. With seven caps to his name, Garnacho previously participated in the Copa America, contributing to Argentina's record 16th title victory in July.
