Posted : 08 July 2024

Mercurial midfielder Alao Mohammed has been rewarded for his outstanding performances in the jersey of Kwara United by being named "Player of the Season."

Mohammed, known for his exceptional skills, was announced as the winner of the award, which was initiated by the Kwara Development Group under the leadership of Olaide Ahli.

The award, sponsored by Ahmed Lawal, CEO of Hairsense Unisex Salon, was presented to him by Mallam Bola Mogaji, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission.

Alao Mohammed said, “I am very happy with this award as it will motivate me to do more wherever and anywhere I am playing football. This is just a motivation for me.”

Mohammed, who scored six goals for Kwara United in the just-concluded season, dedicated the award to his teammates, management, technical crew, fans, supporters, and all football stakeholders for their unwavering support and prayers.

Alao also extended his gratitude to the organizers, the Kwara Development Group, the sponsor Ahmed Lawal, everyone who voted for him, and his family and friends.

Coach Bola Mogaji, who presented the award, congratulated Alao and encouraged him to maintain his performance, aiming for representation in both the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup, similar to past football legends. Mogaji also inaugurated the award with a token of appreciation.

Football stakeholders present at the award presentation congratulated Alao and urged him to continue making them proud. They collectively took pictures with him, celebrating his achievement.

Notably, among the dignitaries was Coach Suleiman Shuaib, the Nigeria Under-23 and Super Eagles home-based goalkeeper coach, who took a photo with Alao and promised to ensure he gets an invitation to the national team.

When asked about his future with Kwara United amidst interest from other clubs, Alao stated, “It is only God that will determine my movement.”

Alao edged out other players like Issa Gata, Emmanuel Ogbole, and Isiah Ejeh to win the coveted award.
