Al Hilal switches from Napoli's Osimhen to PSG's Brazilian star in ambitious transfer shift

Posted : 13 August 2023
Al-Hilal, a prominent team in the Saudi Pro League, has shifted its focus from actively pursuing Victor Osimhen to targeting Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr.

The team's strong interest in Osimhen had been widely known in recent weeks, marked by extensive communications with Napoli and offers ranging from €120 million to €140 million.

A lucrative contract proposal, spanning two to three years and positioning Osimhen as the highest-earning African player ever, had also been presented, with the backing of Michael Emenalo, Director of the Saudi Pro League and a former Nigerian international.

However, despite the appealing offer and encouragement from his close circle, Osimhen ultimately chose to extend his contract with Napoli for an additional two years, effectively halting Al-Hilal's ambitious pursuit.

Undaunted by this turn of events, Al-Hilal swiftly adjusted its strategy.

As reported by transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi club has now directed its attention to none other than Neymar Jr., the renowned Brazilian forward from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

In recent hours, the club has put forth a substantial proposal to Neymar Jr., described as a "huge bid." Negotiations are underway, and Neymar has shown genuine interest in this appealing opportunity.

With Al-Hilal's recent shift in focus, Osimhen can now concentrate on the upcoming season with Napoli.

Having displayed impressive form during pre-season, consistently finding the back of the net, including a standout performance against Apollon Limassol, the 24-year-old striker is well-positioned to lead Napoli's charge in defending their league title.

Napoli's journey in Serie A begins with an away match against Frosinone next weekend.
