Akwa United chairman, Paul Bassey, has stated that the Promise Keepers have received applications from top coaches in Nigeria and abroad for the club’s vacant coaching position.
The former champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League are in search of a new head coach following Fatai Osho's resignation from the post this week.
Bassey mentioned that the club will take its time before appointing a new coach.
“We have received many applications, both from home and abroad, and we are not in a hurry to make a decision. For now, the assistant coaches led by Umar Abdullahi are in charge of the team,” the seasoned administrator said.
Akwa United currently finds itself in the 17th position on the NPFL table.
The Uyo-based club played to a goalless draw against Sunshine Stars in the Match Day 15 fixtures.
