The management of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side announced on Sunday that three managers have made the shortlist for their vacant head coach position.
According to United’s chairman, Paul Bassey, the Promise Keepers stated that the club would maintain high standards in selecting a suitable coach.
Commending the caretaker coach, Umar Abdullahi, for turning around the fortunes of the club, Bassey explained that they would make painstaking efforts to select the best candidate for the club.
“It’s been difficult getting a coach, I must confess to you.
“The standards are very high. We have shortlisted three coaches, and we are still evaluating them.
“We have brought in four players to boost the team and help them achieve their target at the end of the season.”
Akwa United’s coaching position became vacant when the former technical adviser, Fatai Osho, resigned from his role after failing to produce the needed results for the team.
