Akwa Ibom State flaunts new football team, Godswill Akpabio United Football Club

A new football club known as "Godswill Akpabio United Football Club" has been established in Akwa Ibom State.


The club is registered with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and is affiliated with the Akwa Ibom State Football Association to participate in the 2024/2025 Nigerian National League (NNL).

 


The club announced that players and officials will soon be recruited ahead of the season.


During a courtesy call on the State FA at the Uyo Township Stadium, the General Manager of the newly formed team, Mr. Kufre Inima (Kokoty), stated that Godswill Akpabio United Football Club was formed to promote unity and love among Akwa Ibom youths as well as to expose hidden talents to national and international recognition.


While promising to work in synergy with the State FA, Inima mentioned that the club’s target is to qualify for the NPFL next season.


In response, the Chairman of the State FA, Samuel Umoh, commended the club's management for recognizing the importance of engaging with the football body in the state.


Umoh encouraged the team officials to recruit quality players who will perform well in the league and promised to support all teams affiliated with the State FA to ensure their success.


Members of the Board of the State FA were also in attendance.
