Akpom sidelined for Ajax's Europa League clash with Ludogorets

Chuba Akpom, the Nigerian forward, will be absent from Ajax's Europa League qualifier against Ludogorets on Thursday.

Akpom's standout performance last season with Middlesbrough, scoring 28 goals in 40 English Championship appearances, drew interest from clubs like Crystal Palace, Everton, and Sheffield United. 

Ultimately, he opted for a move to Dutch Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax in a €14 million deal.

Though he recovered from a minor injury over the summer break, he missed last week's match against Heracles due to his pending work permit. 

Similarly, Akpom won't be able to participate in the upcoming Europa League qualifier against Ludogorets due to unresolved permit issues. 

While the process might have been smoother if he had three caps for Nigeria, Ajax is likely working diligently to ensure their prized signing can take the field soon.
