Akpom set to receive legendary Ajax shirt from Johan Cruyff

Chuba Akpom, the Nigerian striker, is poised to don the revered number 10 jersey at Ajax following his transfer from Middlesbrough. 

Akpom's impressive 28-goal tally in 38 English Championship appearances for Middlesbrough garnered attention, although it couldn't secure the club's Premier League promotion. 

With just a year left on his Middlesbrough contract and a refusal to extend it, Akpom has been linked to multiple clubs, including Everton, Sheffield United, Lens, and Lille. 

However, Ajax has emerged as the preferred destination, finalizing a €12 million+€2 million agreement. 

Having completed a medical, Akpom's transfer announcement is expected soon. He is set to inherit the iconic number 10 jersey at Ajax, historically worn by football legends like Johan Cruyff, Frank Rijkaard, Denis Bergkamp, Patrick Kluivert, and Wesley Sneijder. 

The last player to hold this number for Ajax was Dusan Tadic, who moved to Fenerbahce this summer. 

Akpom aims to replicate his prior season's success, contributing to Ajax's pursuit of reclaiming the Eredivisie title this year.
