Ajax manager John van 't Schip has expressed satisfaction with the performance of in-form forward Chuba Akpom. The Hale End Academy product has overcome initial struggles to become a key player for the Dutch giants, contributing significantly to their recent resurgence.
Despite his recent surge in form, Akpom has started only one of the last five games across all competitions. However, he has become Ajax's second top scorer in the Eredivisie with five goals, showcasing his importance to the team.
Speaking before Ajax's UEFA Europa League clash with Marseille, van 't Schip praised Akpom's contributions, stating that he has clearly shown his value to the team. The manager highlighted Akpom's ability to make an impact both as a substitute and from the start, emphasizing the increasing competition in the team's selection.
Akpom is yet to score in the Europa League and will be aiming to open his account against Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome. Despite Ajax's slim chances of qualifying for the next round, Akpom's performances have been crucial in their campaign.
