Ahead of 2024/2025 Season: We're a work in progress, says Peace Boys' Technical Adviser, Mangut

Posted : 22 August 2024

Ahead of the NPFL 2024/2025 season, Plateau United Technical Adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has openly admitted that his team is not yet fully prepared for the upcoming challenges. Despite a promising start to their preseason with a 2-0 victory over NNL side Barau FC in their first group game of the ongoing Gusau/Ahlan Preseason Football Tournament in Jos, Mangut acknowledges that the team still requires significant improvements in fitness and coordination.

Mangut expressed his concerns about the team's readiness, highlighting the setbacks they have faced in their preparation. He explained that national protests had severely disrupted their training schedules, causing delays and interruptions that have hindered their ability to fully prepare for the new season. These disruptions have not only affected their physical conditioning but also impacted their tactical and strategic preparations.

According to Mangut, the delays in preparation can have profound effects on a team's overall performance. The lack of consistent training sessions can lead to a decrease in player fitness levels, which in turn affects their ability to execute strategies effectively during matches. Furthermore, such disruptions can also dampen team morale, making it challenging to build the cohesion and unity needed for a successful season.

Coach Mbwas Mangut, who led Plateau United to a 5th place finish in the previous NPFL season with 53 goals, is determined to achieve a better outcome in the upcoming 2024/2025 season. He acknowledges the need for a more focused approach to ensure that the team is not only physically fit but also well-coordinated and mentally prepared for the demands of the league.

Despite the challenges faced, Mangut remains optimistic about his team's potential. He believes that with the right adjustments and continued hard work, Plateau United can overcome the setbacks and improve their performance in the new season. The preseason tournament is seen as a crucial opportunity for the team to fine-tune their strategies and address any areas of concern before the league begins.

Mangut's candid assessment of the team's current state reflects his commitment to achieving success and his understanding of the complexities involved in preparing for a competitive season. He emphasizes the importance of using the remaining time in the preseason to address any weaknesses and build a stronger, more cohesive team.

As Plateau United continues their preparations for the NPFL 2024/2025 season, Mangut and his coaching staff are focused on ensuring that the team is fully ready to meet the challenges ahead. With a combination of hard work, determination, and strategic planning, they aim to achieve a better result and make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
