Despite a promising start to their preseason with a 2-0 victory over NNL side Barau FC in their first group game of the ongoing Gusau/Ahlan Preseason Football Tournament in Jos, Mangut acknowledges that the team still requires significant improvements in fitness and coordination.

He explained that national protests had severely disrupted their training schedules, causing delays and interruptions that have hindered their ability to fully prepare for the new season.
