Ahead of 2024/2025 Season: People's Elephant to test strength against FC Kallon in CAF Int’l Friendly

Nigeria’s most decorated club, Enyimba International FC of Aba, will on Saturday, August 10, face Sierra Leone's FC Kallon in an international friendly.

The match will be hosted at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

According to Sporting Director Ifeanyi Ekwueme, the CAF international friendly between the two West African clubs, who are preparing for their domestic and continental engagements, will take place at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba at 3 p.m.

The Freetown-based side, owned by Sierra Leone’s biggest football export, Mohamed Kallon—formerly of Monaco, Inter Milan, and Genoa—also participated in the Coal City International Preseason Tournament in Enugu alongside Enyimba.

Both teams did not face each other at the Coal City Cup, so they will meet in Aba on Saturday.

Ex-international Ifeanyi Ekwueme also revealed that the highlight of the encounter will be Enyimba’s boss, King Kanu ‘Papilo’ Nwankwo, welcoming his former teammate at Inter Milan and owner of the Sierra Leone club, Mohamed Kallon, to Enyimba City. He will be joined by fellow ex-international and Enyimba Board member Uche Okechukwu, among other former Super Eagles and Enyimba players.

Football Club Kallon, commonly known as FC Kallon, is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. It was originally founded as Sierra Fisheries.

The club is one of the top teams in the Sierra Leone National Premier League and plays its home games at the National Stadium in Freetown.

FC Kallon owner Mohamed Kallon is widely considered the most famous footballer from Sierra Leone. Before playing for Inter Milan, Kallon had one-year stints at Serie B club Genoa and Serie A clubs Bologna, Cagliari, Reggina, and Vicenza.

Meanwhile, everything is set for Enyimba to unveil the new players acquired during this transfer window to their ever-supportive fans and the media.

The unveiling, conducted by the management team led by club Chairman Kanu Nwankwo, will take place tomorrow, Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba from 9 a.m.

The event will give the eagerly awaiting fans of the People’s Elephant the first opportunity to meet the new acquisitions, who are expected to help the club regain its league title and return to its glory days on the continent.
